Maria Mitsumori works in the traditional Japanese art form of mineral painting. Mitsumori studied in Hong Kong and Switzerland for 15 years before returning to Japan. Her global upbringing and Japanese roots heavily influence how she sees the world and inform the thematic tendencies in her work. She considers painting as a tangible way to preserve the abstract, drawing upon the early use of mineral painting as a form of preservation. Currently resides in Tokyo, creating and showcasing artworks globally.
